Printer Password Synchronization

Printer Password Synchronization

(EIO and embedded print servers only.) Most printers provide password-protected access to printer configuration and status settings. The password is set through security Web pages provided by the printer. For these, the administrator password for the printer and the HP Jetdirect print server are synchronized so that the same password is used to access both printer and networking configuration pages. For printers that support password synchronization, the same password is used regardless of the embedded Web server page (printer security pages, or the HP Jetdirect Admin. Account page) in which the password was set.

If password synchronization is lost on these printers, recovery might require one of the following procedures:

Restore both the printer and the HP Jetdirect print server to factory-default states (for example, through a cold-reset), and then reconfigure your settings.

Manually set the same administrator password using both the printer security page and the HP Jetdirect Admin. Account page.
